I get it, the lower the mileage, it is believed, the longer the car will last. Where is the justice? Where is the love? These are the cars that you just might want to take a chance on or at least, show them some honor and respect. In fact, some Chevy models have driven so many miles you might not actually believe it.

Perhaps the most astonishing record set by a Chevy vehicle is the 1. When the feat was reported, the couple was still driving the truck and adding about miles a day to it. The couple used their Silverado as part of their long haul business in which they drove trailers, campers and boats across the United States and Canada.
They even sleep in the truck by lowering the seats and putting a queen mattress on top of them. What was their secret? Regular maintenance. To keep your Chevy going over 1 million miles, you just need to change the oil on time, replace filters regularly, replace the tires often, and have every strange noise or knocking checked out as soon as you can.
At the time their remarkable mileage was reported, the couple said that the only problem they were experiencing was an oil leak. Otherwise, the truck is running great.

Click to see if Our mileage is higher than yours. There are only a handful of vehicles that have been documented to go past 1 million miles, and Chevy has produced two of them. A Wisconsin man hit the 1 million mile mark in in his Chevy Silverado. A camera crew filmed the moment, which was also broadcast on National Public Radio.
The owner purchased the truck in when it had only 41, miles on it. He then used the truck for his business, which involved distributing steaks and seafood throughout the Midwest.
Like the other couple who beat the million-mile mark, the owner credited regular maintenance to keeping the truck going for so long. He said that he had more than oil changes in the 12 years he owned the truck.Dolby equalizer settings
If you drove all 1 million miles at 60 mph without stopping, you would be driving for two straight years. Most people are happy just to make it to themark and maybe a little over. Yet many people start shopping for a new vehicle around that mark. However, Chevy vehicles are routinely among lists of the longest-lasting vehicles and regularly make it pastmiles.Hey everyone, I have a Chevy C with a 5. Also I haven't fully checked the Spark, but the Truck run's fine when you spray Starting fluid into the Throttle body.
Any suggestions on why the truck isn't accepting the fuel, it cranks fine, just wont run without starting fluid. Andrew answered 6 years ago. Get a pressure tester and check it. I have a feeling it is the fuel pressure regulator. Eddie answered 6 years ago. Did you happen to ever figure out the problem?Multivariable calculus
I've been having the same problem and haven't been able to figure it out since May. If so please help me thanks. After sittiing for a few hours, we have to crank it and eventually put a little gas or tarting fluid in the throttle body for our truck to start but runs and drives fine once it does start and will start right up after only sitting for about an hour or so. Derrick answered 5 years ago. Replace the ignition switch module!
My truck had the same issue. GM was having ignition switch problem way back in the 90's as well. Replace the ignition switch and the crank shaft sensor.
Jesse answered 5 years ago. I have the same problem with my 96 silverado 5. It will turn over but won't start. I have to use starting fluid but then it runs fine once its started. What could cause it not to start when its cold? Did you check wire harness goig around passenger side of block. As you can imagine, engine technology has progressed significantly since Despite first being introduced 35 years ago, there are tons of these vehicles still on the road today.

However, while these engines are rock-solid for the most part, there are still a handful of common problems worth mentioning. The idle control valve sits on the throttle body and is responsible for adjusting the amount of air that enters the engine at idle, ultimately controlling engine idle speeds.
Once you begin to use the accelerator, it opens up allowing full air flow. Over time, from the large volumes of air that pass through it, the valve can get gunked or clogged up and being to function poorly, creating idle issues.
The throttle position sensor is responsible for reading how far down the accelerator pedal is pressed, and relaying that to the throttle body. Like the ICV, the throttle position sensor is mounted onto the throttle body and can wear down over time, get dirty, or completely fail. The intake gasket sits between the intake manifold and the cylinder head. It is responsible for sealing engine vacuum, and also engine coolant. Most gaskets are made of rubber, or paper, and are subject to high pressures and high temperatures.
Over time, the pressure and temperature exerted on the gasket can cause it to wither down, crack, etc. As the intake manifold controls air-to-fuel ratios, leaking vacuum can throw these off and lead to the engine running very lean. The end result is poor performance, cylinder misfires, and possibly stalling. Additionally, you can begin to leak engine coolant down the cylinder block. The most noticeable symptom of this will be a low coolant light, engine overheating, or coolant puddles underneath your car.
Intake gaskets are known to start leaking as frequently as every 50, miles. We recommend inspecting for leaks frequently and replacing this every 80, miles or as it becomes a problem.
The distributor cap failing is a common problem across all Vortec engines. The Vortec distributor is responsible for providing the ignition coils with the electricity required to power the spark plugs and create combustion.
Wires connect to the distributor, which has a mechanical piece inside that spins in a circle to generate the voltage for the coils. In vortec engines, the problem stems with the cap on the distributor, not the actual distributor itself.
The cap is made of plastic. And the distributor sits in a high-heat part of the engine with poor air circulation or cooling.John answered 7 years ago. Check to see if the cruise control is vacuum operated. There might be a vacuum diagram under the hood. DavidH25 answered 7 years ago. My Toyota does the same thing, and I don't know why, best guess is fuel is not pressurized right, and is there a 'check engine' light on?
Does it run well otherwise? To me it is a minor problem that is not worth spending money to fix, as long as it does not get worse and does start every time. As for cruise control, I don't see how that would be related. Sorry i didn't help you, not a real answer. How to Replace Ignition Control Module 96-99 GMC K1500
Good luck. Now this is just me, but I have a difficult time reading all upper case. The only thing I can think of is check fuel pressure on rail, to see if it is where it should be 5 minutes after you shut it off. It may be low at all times and this is a symptom of something else. Run a scan, free at AutoZone and see what pops up if anything Please get back and let me us here on the forum about if it runs OK and gets decent MPG, and how long has this been going on?
Thanks K6. John got that in while I was typinglisten to John he knows what he is talking about. I found a vacuum diagram but no use to post it, impossible to see. Odds are slim but if the vacuum line to the cruise control is bad it will prevent it from working and may also mess with the engine when its warmed up because its still in closed loop mode.
When its cold it is in open loop mode and by default would add extra fuel possibly neutralizing the effects of the small vac leak. As it warms up the idle air control adjusts to this vacuum leak and when the key is off the idle air control resets itself causing a hard start up due to the vacuum leak not being compensated for. Just a possibility. K6, see what I mean by listen to John?
Everything he just posted I did not know and learned, by paying attention, one of the reasons I participate in this forum, to learn as well as help. Also as david said fuel pressure could be low and the computer would do the same thing with the fuel as it does with the air. Starts fine cold because its in open loop and using extra fuel to run but once its in closed loop with the idle air control reset there just isn't enough fuel to start right away.
One way there is too much air and the other would be not enough fuel. The cruise could be a fuse, have you checked fuses? K6 answered 7 years ago.
All of the answers sound logical. I will do some testing and get back. I have checked all fuses changed fuel pump and filter. The reason for the fuel pump was because my 03 chevy 6.
And it was something I could do fairly easily. Cruise control switch.
I changed out my fuel pressure regulator and it fixed this problem for me.Subaru Tesla Toyota Volkswagen Volvo. Research By Category Body Style. Start a Loan Request Form Today! Used Cars. By Make.
